🎤✨ Hands-On Learning in DD4! 🎬🎶
At Dorchester School District 4, we know that real-world experiences are key to preparing our students for the future! 💼🚀
Last Friday, Luca Sarb, a student at Woodland Middle School- DD4 had the exciting opportunity to job shadow Mr. Seth Phillips, music teacher at Williams Memorial Elementary School, where he assisted in preparing for the Black History Month Assembly that morning. 🎥🔊 Together, they ensured the audio-visual setup was on point, making sure every presentation, video, and sound cue was perfectly timed for the event.
Experiences like these allow students to build valuable technical skills, gain confidence, and explore career paths they’re passionate about. 💡👏 A huge shoutout to Mr. Phillips for mentoring Luca and to all the DD4 staff who support student growth through hands-on learning!

Dorchester School District 4 would like to take a moment to thank the incredible staff in our Department of Student Services. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly every day to ensure that every student in DD4 receives the support they need. Their efforts often go unrecognized, but the impact they make is invaluable.
Dr. Britt-Stevens, Mrs. Haynes, Mrs. Bryant, and Mrs. Baptista are true pillars of our community, demonstrating an exceptional understanding of the students and families they serve. Thank you for all that you do, especially the work that goes unseen. Your dedication does not go unnoticed!

Last Thursday, our WMES Tigers enjoyed a truly special experience! Mrs. Chaquilla Green, our Coordinator of Parent and Family Engagement, and Mrs. Tricia Delice, our Coordinator of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction, visited classrooms to share their favorite books celebrating Black History Month. The students’ curiosity and thoughtful questions made the day even more memorable. Moments like these highlight the power of storytelling in connecting us to our rich heritage and inspiring our future.

Mr. Glenn’s art classes have transformed the halls of Woodland High into a gallery of inspiration with a powerful Black History Month project!
🖌️💡 Students selected influential Black Americans and created stunning calligrams—where words and text come together to form striking visual images that honor their legacies.
Featured in this unique collection are:

💇🏾♀️ Madam C.J. Walker – A trailblazing entrepreneur and the first self-made female millionaire in the U.S.
⚾ Cool Papa Bell – A baseball legend known for his lightning-fast speed in the Negro Leagues.
🧬 Henrietta Lacks – The woman whose immortal cells changed medical science forever.
🎤 KRS-One – A hip-hop pioneer and activist who used music as a force for change.

🍰❤️ Sweet Appreciation & CTE in Action! ❤️🍰
On Valentine’s Day, Woodland High School’s FCCLA, led by Mrs. Lewis, showcased the spirit of Career & Technical Education (CTE) by delivering delicious cupcakes to teachers and staff! 🧁✨
FCCLA, part of our Family and Consumer Sciences CTE program, teaches students valuable skills in hospitality, leadership, and community service—and what better way to put those skills into action than by spreading kindness and appreciation! 💕
This thoughtful gesture was a sweet reminder of how much our educators and staff mean to the Woodland community. Thank you, FCCLA, for making the day a little brighter (and tastier) while highlighting the importance of CTE programs! 👏✨

🐷🌾 CTE Spotlight: Agricultural Science & Technology! 🚜✨
At Woodland High School, Ms. Leonard’s Agricultural Science & Technology CP class is getting real hands-on experience in farming and animal care! Last week, students worked on Woodland’s very own pig stall—because yes, Woodland has a pig! They actually have FOUR PIGS! 🐖🏡
This week, they celebrated National FFA Week with the Ag Olympics, featuring fun competitions like "A Day in the Life of a Farmer" (a farmer relay) and "Cowboy vs. the Cows", a tag-style game simulating runaway cattle. It’s a joyful competition to boost morale in the FFA, where students can have fun with one another with joyful competition🏆🐄🤠
DD4’s CTE programs are all about real-world learning and preparing students for careers in agriculture, agribusiness, and environmental science. 🌎👏
