As a football player and teammate, it is an honor to write about Tyreon Summerson signing with North Greenville University. This is a major accomplishment not only for him, but for everyone who has had the opportunity to line up beside him.
Tyreon is more than a talented athlete. He is a leader. From the first whistle at practice to the final seconds of every game, he gives everything he has. His work ethic, discipline, and determination set the standard for our team. He leads by example, whether he is pushing us in workouts, encouraging teammates in tough moments, or staying composed under pressure.
What makes “Big Tyre” special is not just his ability on the field, but his character off it. He holds himself accountable, respects his coaches, and challenges those around him to improve. When things get difficult, he does not complain. He works harder. That kind of leadership comes from within.
It is tough to see him go. We are losing a voice in the locker room, a competitor on the field, and a brother to many of us. At the same time, we are excited to watch him take this next step. He has earned this opportunity, and he will make an impact at North Greenville just as he did here.
This is not goodbye. It is the start of something greater. North Greenville is gaining more than a football player. They are gaining a leader.
Congratulations, Tyreon. Once a teammate, always a brother.
