The Woodland High School Wolverine Battalion, proudly established in 2010, has officially announced its 16th battalion commander for the 2025–2026 school year. Leading the battalion will be Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jamie McCarthy, a dedicated and disciplined cadet who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, commitment, and excellence throughout his JROTC journey.

To mark this transition, the Wolverine Battalion hosted a Change of Responsibility, where cadets, staff, family, and community members gathered to honor the outgoing leadership and welcome the new command team. During the event, Cadet McCarthy was officially promoted to the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel, signifying his new responsibilities as the 16th cadet to hold the prestigious position of battalion commander.

The ceremony also recognized the appointment of the new Cadet Command Sergeant Major Jakari Colonel, who will serve as the senior leader of the battalion, ensuring discipline, standards, and cadet welfare are upheld throughout the school year. Together, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel McCarthy and Cadet Command Sergeant Major Colonel will form the top leadership team guiding the Wolverine Battalion.

A special moment was reserved for Cadet Lieutenant Colonel McCarthy’s mother & Cadet Command Sergeant Major Jakari Colonel , who received a medal in recognition of their unwavering support, encouragement, and sacrifices that allowed them to remain in JROTC and succeed every step of the way.

The Wolverine Battalion operates under the guidance of Major John Logan (Ret.) and First Sergeant Simpson (Ret.), who provide mentorship, leadership, and professional instruction to ensure cadets embody the values and traditions of JROTC. Their dedication to the program has helped shape the battalion into a cornerstone of Woodland High School since its establishment.

Since its founding, the Wolverine Battalion has built a strong tradition of developing leaders of character, instilling Army values, and preparing cadets for success both inside and outside the classroom. Under Cadet Lieutenant Colonel McCarthy’s leadership, and with the support of Cadet Command Sergeant Major Colonel, the battalion looks forward to another year of growth, teamwork, and achievement.
