Woodland High School students were treated to an unforgettable Black History Month celebration on February 26, when Aunt Pearlie Sue and The Gullah Kinfolk visited the school to deliver a powerful message through song and storytelling. Aunt Pearlie Sue, the beloved character brought to life by Anita Singleton-Prather, is a renowned storyteller, educator, and performer from the Sea Islands of South Carolina. Inspired by her grandmother, Singleton-Prather has dedicated her career to preserving and sharing the Gullah heritage. Through her vibrant performances, she weaves together music, history, and wisdom, captivating audiences across the country.
